When I say, “Eggs, flour, butter, and sugar” you’re probably thinking cookie or cake.

But what about when I say, “Sodium stearoyl lactylate, soy lecithin, monocalcium phosphate, and sodium acid phosphosphate?” You should be thinking “Run away!” Doesn’t sound like a dessert, but these are just a few ingredients in Twinkies. Nothings says, “Yummy” like some calcium sulfate, dextrin, Yellow 5, Red 40… am I right? There’s a reason Twinkies have a 7-year-shelf life.

Read the ingredients on your labels. If it doesn’t sound like food, it probably isn’t.
