When something is good, more of something is even better, right? No, not necessarily. Researchers are learning that shorter bursts of exercise may do as well (if not better) than longer, slower endurance exercise… hence the popularity of HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts.

Strength training is not much different. Don’t think that doing 10 sets of bench press is better for you than three because that’s not necessarily the case. There’s a law of diminishing returns.

Not sure how to workout more efficiently or having a hard time finding shorter workouts? Programs like 10-minute Trainer, T25, and the newly released P90X3 help you get high quality total body workouts in 30 minutes or less.

Exercise smart! Don’t workout longer if shorter will do the trick.
