Did you know that your thoughts can have a physiological effect on your brain chemistry over time? Well, you do now. There are neural pathways in your brain that can physically alter based on what’s going on up there.

I’m not sure about you, but I want to fill my mind with positive thoughts. My brain needs all the help it can get… I just can’t afford to compromise it any further with self-destructive thoughts.

That’s why it’s important to practice visualization before attempting an activity. Imagine yourself completing it successfully over and over… whether it’s powering through a new max on the bench, finishing a race at a certain pace, or saying “No” to foods that you’ve succumbed to in the past.

And that’s also why I encourage people to break habits of negative self-talk. It’s unproductive at best… and could literally give you brain damage.

No more brain damage! No more stinkin thinkin!

I was feeling defeated and frustrated with my health due to a chronic illness, but Matthew and the group met me where I was at and provided the balance of grace and truth that I needed. I lost 10 lbs during my first challenge, but more importantly I learned to be faithful with my responsibilities (eating well, exercising, etc.) and to trust God with the rest.
