Fitness Tip

  • The sneaky thing about sodas, juices, sports drinks, alcohol, and coffee is the number of calories vs. the amount of benefits they provide. A can of non-diet soda typically has 140-180 calories, nearly all of them from sugar. A drink from Starbucks can easily double that. But they are providing no nutritional value.

Say you only need 1,800 calories a day. You can easily blow nearly 10% of them on a single can of Coke, with zero benefit. And while juices can have vitamins, they are mostly sugar. The fiber content alone would make eating a whole orange better than drinking a glass of orange juice.

So unless your drink IS your meal (juicing, protein shake, or Shakeology), drink water instead and let your food provide your calories. You’ll feel fuller longer and your body will get more of what it needs.

Testimonials

  • After having my son, I tried for years to lose weight, but with little success. Jennie offered positive support and accountability. She has helped provide meal ideas and workout program schedules always with my goals for my nutrition in mind. She has been such an encourager and great support. Jennie was never pushy or shaming. I can always count on her to check in on me and to show grace when needed. I really appreciate all the help she has provided the last two years and look forward to her support and encouragement as I continue down a healthier path.

  • Vitamix Review: Our Favorite Appliance

Vitamix. Is it everything they say it is? I'm here to tell you, it's more. This multi-purpose, powerhouse of a machine will not only help get you healthier, you'll be looking for excuses to use it. It's without its flaws, but we wouldn't trade it for 100 pounds of organic kale.
