Fitness Tip

  • When you’re getting stronger and need to go up in weights, go up by no more than 10% (in other words, increase your weights by 10% of what you were lifting). Once you’re lifting your desired number of reps/sets at the new weight, you can increase again.

But the heavier the weights get, the increased % will need to go down. So if you’re using 80 pound dumbbells for example, you may want to increase by only 5% because they don’t make 88 pound dumbbells and you’ll end up using 90 pounds which may be too much. You can always add more weight if it’s not enough.

Remember, the goal is to get stronger while staying healthy. Injuries make that harder. There’s no shame in getting stronger slowly.

  • Jennie is an extremely dedicated, knowledgeable, and encouraging coach. She listened to my needs and what I wanted in a workout program. I love the Chalean Extreme program she recommended … Jennie also was readily available to answer any questions. She gave me so much encouragement during this time and provided informative articles on health and nutrition. I highly recommend Jennie as a dedicated coach to help you define and reach your health goals. Thank you so much Jennie for investing your time and energy into my fitness journey. I appreciate your efforts so much.

  • Vitamix Review: Our Favorite Appliance

Vitamix. Is it everything they say it is? I'm here to tell you, it's more. This multi-purpose, powerhouse of a machine will not only help get you healthier, you'll be looking for excuses to use it. It's without its flaws, but we wouldn't trade it for 100 pounds of organic kale.
