The Observer Effect (aka the Hawthorne Effect) states that the very effect of observation changes what’s being observed. In other words, behaviors of those being watched will change because those being watched know that they’re being watched. Notice how your kids or pets are less likely to misbehave when they know you’re watching?

This is why having an accountability partner, a fitness group, and/or a coach is so important. If you know you’re being watched and held up to a standard, there’s a reasonable chance you’re going to change your behavior for the better… eat cleaner, workout harder, be consistent, meet your goals, and so on. It’s another tool to use to keep one progressing on in their fitness journey and people would be wise to utilize it!

I’m new to these weight loss challenges. I am good at starting diets but always lose my motivation. Jenny was great. Always checking in, giving support and posting inspiration. When I struggled she was understanding and encouraged me not to give up even though I did not lose as much weight as I wanted. She is such a great role model – someone who is not only a coach but in the trenches herself fighting to get healthier. I would like to do another challenge with her in the future.
