I don’t recall ever working out and then regretting it.

But whenever I skip a workout, I feel worse not only physically, but mentally/emotionally as well. Does this happen to you? It’s not surprising. Fitness (exercise + nutrition) is a very personal issue and has a direct bearing on our emotions, outlook, and demeanor. The regret from skipping exercise easily weighs more on us than the 45 minutes spent working out would have.

So what you may find is that the most gratifying workouts are those you are dreading, procrastinating, or contemplating skipping, because once they’re over, the feeling of accomplishment is all the greater. You’ve not only overcome the physical barriers, but you conquered all the emotions trying to talk you out of exercising. You are building your self-discipline muscle and learning to control your emotions rather than letting them control you.

Bottom line: Workout. You’ll be glad you did.
