The sheer number of healthy and/or organic food options at the store can make it intimidating to know where to begin. Rather than trying to tackle them all at once, just make it a goal to pick up one new healthy ingredient at the store each time you go. This week, try all-natural almond butter. Next week, Ezekiel Bread. Maybe the week afterthat, coconut oil or Braggs Fluid Aminos. Keep track of those you and your family like and start buying them in place of the old stuff you were buying.

Getting healthy doesn’t have to be an all or nothing proposition, nor does it have to result in deprivation. But it does require getting out of our comfort zone and being open to new things. Getting new ingredients one at a time will get the process started, ease the transition, and hopefully result in some finding some new foods that will please both the palate and the waistline.
