Mindless Eating is an illuminating and groundbreaking book. Food psychologist Brian Wansink shows why you may not realize how much you’re eating, what you’re eating–or why you’re even eating at all. Easily the most interesting nutrition book you'll ever read.

    PB2 Review

Love peanut butter but trying to watch the fat or calories? Is it really possible to get the flavor of peanuts with only 15% of the fat? Sounds too good to be true ... or is it?

Fitness Tip

  • The problem with diets is that they generally will make good-for-you foods taboo. Paleo, Atkins, vegan, and so on. Follow these and you can’t have grass fed beef (or you can only eat grass fed beef) and little to no organic produce or dairy or …

The problem IS NOT that we eat dairy, meat, starches, or even sugars. The problem is we eat TOO MANY of the WRONG KINDS of these foods. I mean do we really need a plate of spaghetti with a side of garlic bread and a salad loaded with croutons? That’s a ton of starch and very little anything else. Why not a grilled chicken breast with a small side of whole grain noodles topped marinara and some grilled asparagus with olive oil on the side?

Our goal should be to eat high-quality versions of whole foods in the right ratios. We don’t need 12 ounces of meat in one sitting, nor do we need to forgo high-glycemic fruits like watermelon or bananas. There is balance that can be embraced which will make for a more versatile and satisfying way of life.

These diets are fine to follow as a test or for a term. But if you’re looking to make permanent lifestyle changes, don’t fall for the diet hype that make good for your foods bad.

Testimonials

  • I was in a rough spot with my nutrition and my training was suffering. I reached out to Matthew for some advice hoping he would guide in the right direction. He told me about an accountability group he would facilitate. I accepted the invitation and never looked back. The nutrition plan was very good (tasteful) and being accountable to fitness was great… The people I took this journey with were fantastic and so encouraging. It was exactly what I needed at the time. Thank you Matthew for the experience and believing in me…

  • Vitamix Review: Our Favorite Appliance

Vitamix. Is it everything they say it is? I'm here to tell you, it's more. This multi-purpose, powerhouse of a machine will not only help get you healthier, you'll be looking for excuses to use it. It's without its flaws, but we wouldn't trade it for 100 pounds of organic kale.
