Another way to combat the 5 to 7 pounds the average American puts on in the winter is to watch the alcohol during all those holiday celebrations. Alcohol is packed with calories and promotes the release of insulin, which can mess with your metabolism. Plus, it can impair judgement on how much alcohol your consuming in the first place!

Simple remedy: drink a glass of water or a diet soda before and after each alcoholic beverage to help pace yourself. This will keep you full longer, minimize calorie consumption, and keep your mindset in check throughout the evening.
