Fitness Tip

  • If a diet or “health” food is being advertised as low-fat, there’s a reasonable chance it’s higher in sugar and/or salt than it’s counterpart (ex: low-fat peanut butter vs. regular). Or if it’s noted for being low-carb, it’s a safe bet that it’s high fat. (ex: “Light” yogurt vs. regular yogurt). If it’s low-fat AND low-carb, most likely they’re using artificial sweeteners (ex: protein bars).

    With these type of foods, you will almost always be making trade-offs in order to get the flavor acceptable to our American taste buds. And trade-offs are fine, so as long as you are aware of them!
