  • Yesterday I mentioned the importance of establishing a bedtime ritual. One option I suggested was reading a paperback. Notice I didn’t say reading your iPad or Kindle… nor did I suggest watching a movie. Some research suggests that watching TV or using an electronic device before bedtime interferes with sleep. The researchers speculate that the glow from these devices can cause light exposure that disrupts the body’s sleep rhythms and suppresses the release of melatonin, a hormone that promotes sleep.

    So stick to old-school books or magazines for your nighttime reading ritual. Might not be as cool, but it beats being tired.
