Fitness Tip

  • “Bio-individuality” is the latest fitness buzz word. It simply means that we are all different and what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another person in the exact same way. There are general rules that are pretty universal, but to the degree in which the affect us on an individual basis is varied.

    For instance, two people of similar build and age could do the exact same program and nutrition for three months and have different results. One could plateau sooner, put on more muscle, lose more fat, and so on.

    So what’s the application? There’s a lot of trial and error in fitness. Since the body adapts, what works for a while may not always work. Constant tinkering is required. Throw in the fact that as we age, what worked in our 20’s may not work as well in our 30’s and beyond.

    This kind of moving target sounds like bad news, but I don’t think it is. Variety is the spice of life. Trying new things is good for us. Having to figure it out keeps us focused rather than complacent. Change = good

    So embrace your difference. Be glad we’re not all the same. How boring that would be!
