  • Carbs aren’t the enemy… we just eat too many and the wrong kinds. But it can be hard to keep our carbs in check when we’re so used to having them at every meal.

    The solution? Make them a compliment to the meal, NOT the meal itself.

    Mexican for dinner? Forgo the chips, have a healthy helping of grilled meats and veggies and choose beans OR rice, not both. If you go the rice route, make 1/2 as much and add a helping of pico de gallo or some salsa, peas, and carrots to it. If you go the beans route, 1/2 a serving of black beans should do the trick.

    See the trend? The main feature is the meat and veggies, not the starch, and certainly not multiple helpings of a poor quality starch.

    If you make a few adjustments, you can have our carbs and eat them too!
