  • As a rule, it’s good stop eating at least two to three hours before bed.

    But depending on your day or the fitness program you are doing, this can be especially hard. So if you’re really struggling, try eating a casein protein-based snack. Casein protein (found in dairy like yogurt or cottage cheese or as a powder supplement) digests much slower in your stomach (taking 5-7 hours). Therefore it’s available for longer periods of time to help feed your muscles, which is particularly nice for those doing a strength training program. This certainly beats eating a quickly digested food that your body is prone to store as fat during your rest,

    So when you just have to eat something, it might as well be something that works for you as you sleep, rather than against you.
