Fitness Tip

  • Range of Motion > Weight Lifted

The inherent temptation when strength training is to constantly increase the amount of weight lifted. And while that should be a good, your 1st goal is having good form while lifting, which includes achieving maximum range of motion. For instance, if you’re doing a bench press but aren’t bringing the weight down to your chest, you’re cheating yourself. Or if you’re doing a pull-up and not getting your chin over the bar, or, more often the case, not going all the way down with arms full-extended, you’re cheating yourself.

You should only increase your weight when you are achieving maximum range of motion. This will not only help prevent injury from lifting too heavy too soon, but will actually help you get stronger faster than if you stopped short of full range of motion.

Vitamix. Is it everything they say it is? I'm here to tell you, it's more. This multi-purpose, powerhouse of a machine will not only help get you healthier, you'll be looking for excuses to use it. It's without its flaws, but we wouldn't trade it for 100 pounds of organic kale.
