  • Skipping breakfast is a big no-no. Your body’s metabolism has already slowed down from less activity and “fasting” through the night. Skipping breakfast continues this trend as your body is trying to be even more efficient with its energy.

    Along this same logic, did you know that breakfast should also be the most FILLING meal of the day (you thought I was going to say IMPORTANT… which it is, but you still only get partial credit)? If ever there was time to fill the tank up all the way, it’s when it’s empty, right?

    But we Americans have it backwards. If we eat breakfast at all, more often not, it’s something small… and then our meals get bigger as the day goes on, with a grand finale at dinner, nearing the time we’re getting ready to “turn off the engine.” If you did this with your car, assuming you put enough gas in the tank in the morning to get you to midday, by evening time, after having filled it with bigger and bigger amounts, your tank would overflow.

    Same goes with your body, though your body is a much better recycler than your car. When you overfill your body (especially at dinner), your body will hold on to the overflow and turn it into future fuel (aka fat).

    So try to get in the habit of eating your biggest meal in the morning and taper your portions as the day goes on. This will help turn your body into an efficient, fuel-burning machine.
