  • Why We Get Fat

Why We Get Fat is an invaluable key in our understanding of an international epidemic and a guide to what each of us can do about it. A follow up to his New York Times best seller, Good Calories, Bad Calories, Taubes reveals the bad nutritional science of the last century, none more damaging or misguided than the “calories-in, calories-out” model of why we get fat, and the good science that has been ignored, especially regarding insulin’s regulation of our fat tissue.

    PB2 Review

Love peanut butter but trying to watch the fat or calories? Is it really possible to get the flavor of peanuts with only 15% of the fat? Sounds too good to be true ... or is it?

Fitness Tip

  • Forget what you’ve heard about weight lifting making you bulky. You don’t naturally have the chemical makeup (aka testosterone) for that to happen. Women who appear that way have been “enhancing.”

How much should you lift? As much as you can while maintaining good form for that rep count. When you are hitting all the repetitions for that set, it’s time to make it heavier. The idea that the only way to get toned is by lifting super light weights a gazillion times is nonsense.

How often should you lift? Depending on your goals, 2-5 times a week. Women tend to focus on cardio over strength training and that’s a mistake.

Let’s recap: Lift heavy. Lift often. Rinse and repeat.

Testimonials

  • … I realized not long after the group started that I needed the accountability. But what really helped was learning how God’s Word applied to my health and well-being. I managed to lose 27 pounds and gain a great deal of knowledge. Praise God for people like Matthew …

  • Vitamix Review: Our Favorite Appliance

Vitamix. Is it everything they say it is? I'm here to tell you, it's more. This multi-purpose, powerhouse of a machine will not only help get you healthier, you'll be looking for excuses to use it. It's without its flaws, but we wouldn't trade it for 100 pounds of organic kale.
