Living a healthy lifestyle has always been a passion of mine. I taught Physical Education for eight years, teaching all levels, K-8. I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS), Independent Beachbody Coach, a wife, and mother working everyday to help my family be the healthiest they can be. Currently I am a personal trainer at the Detroit Athletic Club and I stay home with my baby girl.

  • I’ve heard it said that when you are overweight, you feel overwhelmed. I believe that to be true. The physical limitations from being out of shape (less energy, shortness of breath, poor sleep, lack of mobility, etc.) are hard enough by themselves. But these things lead to emotional pressures as well: your fuse is shorter, your ability to make objective decisions is diminished, in fact, the lens in which you look at life is compromised. Bottom line: physical health is inextricably linked to emotional health. Improve one and the other improves by default. But if one is failing, the other will eventually fail as well.

    So remember, getting in shape has benefits far beyond the physical. If you don’t believe me, get in shape and see what happens to your mood, demeanor, and outlook. I guarantee you will walk taller, have more confidence, and more optimism, which by themselves, would make getting fit worth it!
