Fitness Tip

  • Locking joints (i.e. keeping or moving your arms/legs to where they’re completely straight) is rarely a good idea, but it can be a hard habit to fight. For instance, when you’re doing a standing barbell curl, the tendency is to stand with stiff legs. While you want your upper body to be straight up and down, your knees should have a slight bend (and feet at shoulder width). This will make it easier on your joints, take tension off your lower back, and give you a stronger, more stable base to work from. Or if your doing shoulder flys, having a slight angle to your elbow will keep your joints safe while still focusing on your delts. On shoulder press, at the height of movement, your elbows should still stop short of being fully extended. Catching on?

We want to get healthier and it’s hard to do that when we’re injured. Knowing proper form will go a long way to keeping us healthy. SO WHEN IN DOUBT, DON’T LOCK IT OUT!

Testimonials

  • As a busy mom of three young children, I had neglected my nutrition and fitness for many years. I was at a point where I was tired all the time and felt bad about my health, fitness and physical appearance… Kim was extremely encouraging and provided the accountability I needed to stay on track to reach my goals. I was able to exceed my goal by losing 17 pounds and over 13 inches! I also have more energy, feel healthier, and feel better about myself too. Kim has also been able to help me develop a plan to maintain going forward… I am extremely grateful to Kim for her encouragement, tips and genuine care in seeing me reach my fitness goals. I couldn’t have done it without her!

Vitamix. Is it everything they say it is? I'm here to tell you, it's more. This multi-purpose, powerhouse of a machine will not only help get you healthier, you'll be looking for excuses to use it. It's without its flaws, but we wouldn't trade it for 100 pounds of organic kale.
