Home Fitness Gurus Keri Dabney

Location: Louisville, KY

Speciality: Family and child nutrition.

Random: I’m a tomato snob. If they’re not homegrown I won’t touch them.

My name is Keri Dabney and I live in Louisville, KY where I am an active member of Southeast Christian Church. The joy of my life and my service to the Lord is to be a Godly wife and mother to our four children.

I am a registered dietitian and I graduated in dietetics from the University of Kentucky in 1998. After graduation I worked in the clinical setting for seven years before I decided to be a full time stay at home mom.

I have always enjoyed the wellness side of dietetics. My goal is to help you navigate through all the available nutritional information so you can make better, wiser decisions about your diet for you and your family.

Fitness Tip

  • While smoothies can be a great staple of your diet, don’t assume they’re all healthy. A quick look at some of the popular smoothie shops reveals recipes that have as much as 1,400 calories, 128 grams of sugar, and 57 grams of fat. THAT’S NOT A MISPRINT. Few people need to consume that in a single meal.

When possible, make your own. Using a 1:1 fruit to veggie ratio will keep the sugars from getting out of control and a more balanced nutrient profile.

  • I have insulin resistance and my blood sugar was way high. I knew I had to do something, so when I heard about Matthew, I decided to check it out.  It has helped me tremendously.  In just about 4 months my blood sugar went way down!!  The doctor is happy and so am I.  I also enjoyed doing the 90 Day Fitness Challenge.  It helped me take more responsibility for every area of my life.

Vitamix. Is it everything they say it is? I'm here to tell you, it's more. This multi-purpose, powerhouse of a machine will not only help get you healthier, you'll be looking for excuses to use it. It's without its flaws, but we wouldn't trade it for 100 pounds of organic kale.
